KJo n plans for re-release of “Kal Ho Naa Ho” after 21 years this weekend
Karan Johar re-releases his Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan starrer Kal Ho Naa Ho this weekend.
This was confirmed by Dharma Productions.
The production house took to their social media handles and shared the news.
Kal Ho Naa Ho released on 28 November 2003 and it turned out to be a blockbuster. Last year, on the 20th anniversary of the film, Karan recalled that the film was part of the last movie prior to his father, Yash Johar’s sad demise.
This film has been such an emotional journey for Karan and perhaps for everyone, he has gathered over the many years. To bring such a stellar starcast together with a story that has a beating heart…it’s all kudos to the entire cast and team behind the camera for making Kal Ho Naa Ho still beat strong and within everyone’s hearts.
For Karan, this was the last film in which his father was a part of Dharma family…and it feels surreal to have his presence in every frame as he rewatched it even till today. Thank you papa, for guiding us through everything & making stories that matter…and for always standing by what is right. Karan said last year he will always miss his father.
He thanked Nikkhil for making a directorial debut that is etched forever in all their collective hearts!.
While Shah Rukh and Saif were always the lead of the film, Karan originally wanted to cast Kareena Kapoor in Naina’s role but it later went to Preity Zinta.
