Madhuri Dixit recounts on rivalry with Sridevi in 90s
In a recent media interaction, Madhuri Dixit recounted the bond she shared with Sridevi.
B-town’s 1990s era of witnessed some of the most beautiful actresses trying their luck in the industry.
Right from Urmila Matondkar, Juhi Chawla, and Raveena Tandon, to Madhuri Dixit, Kajol, and many more, this era was marked by immense talent and glamour.
Among them, Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi stood out as iconic stars. The two divas were often compared and pitted against each other, leading to numerous rumours and speculations on their rivalry. Madhuri also recalled on the bond she shared with Sridevi.
In another interview Madhuri revealed she had a lot of respect for Sridevi, though they didn’t have much of an opportunity to connect. She went on to say that they never worked together. There was one movie that they did long back, but even then, they didn’t have any scenes together and had different scenarios going for us in terms of our careers. Our paths never really crossed in that sense. But, of course, we both had a lot of respect and admiration for each other. She espected her as an actor because she worked in different languages which was amazing and she was successful across them. She was also very sweet to me.”
For the unversed, Madhuri and Sridevi were cast in Ramesh Sippy’s Zameen. However, the actress never shared screen space, and the movie never made it to the big screens.
Later, in 2000, Madhuri and Sridevi came together again for Boney Kapoor’s Pukaar. Even then, the actresses barely exchanged words.

Recalling her experience, Madhuri said, “Pukaar was Boney ji’s production and she was the producer of that film. There was not much interaction amid them because she was doing her own thing, and was doing mine. They didn’t really get to talk much.
After filming Pukaar, Sridevi shared her thoughts with Madhuri. Madhuri recalled, “After we completed Pukaar and it was released, she got married and moved to the US. That’s why there wasn’t much interaction. She entered the industry before she did, and she had been working since she was a little kid. She worked really hard to be where she was, and she truly respected that.”
Madhuri Dixit was last seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which turned out to be a blockbuster at the box office. Besides Madhuri, the movie also featured Kartik Aaryan, Tripti Dimri, and Vidya Balan in key roles.
