Rekha shares rare comments on working with Amitabh Bachchan
It’s a well-known fact that both Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan have shared screen space in several films in the 70s including Manmohan Desai’s directorial Suhaag released in 1979.
On her recent appearance in The Great Kapil Sharms Show, Rekha shared with Kapil Archana Puran Singh and the audience on her collaboration with the Bollywood Legend Amitabh Bachchan.
In the midst of the episode, a fan asked Rekha about the song ‘O Sheronwali’, from the film Suhaag. The song featured Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan.
In the song, Rekha performs Dandiya in a temple. The fan continued that being a South Indian, you played the Gujarati Dhandiya so well.
Although Rekha did not mention Amitabh’s name, she was all praise for him.
Think about this, the personality of the person she was performing dandiya with. She obviously had to do a good job. Even she didn’t know how to play dandiya, when he stood in front of her, she would just start dancing.
The 1979 released Manmohan Desai’s directorial ‘Suhaag’ featured Rekha, Amitabh, Shashi Kapoor, Parveen Babi, Amjad Khan, Nirupa Roy, Kader Khan, Ranjeet and Jeevan. The film was the highest-grossing film of 1979.
Meanwhile, Rekha had a ball amidst the episode. Krushna Abhishek and Sunil Grover dressed up as Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan for a special act left Rekha in splits. In the same act, Kiku Sharda was seen dressed up as Umrao Jaan. Rekha also sang for the audience and took the centre stage to dance with Krushna, who appeared to be dressed up as Amitabh Bachchan.
