Sholay’ AI modified version storms social media
In an era subjugated by advanced technology, artificial intelligence (AI) is not only scripting original content but also reinterpreting classics to suit contemporary tastes.
The AI-modified version introduces a series of imaginative twists to the film’s iconic scenes. To cite an example
Thakur (originally played by Sanjeev Kumar) doesn’t lose his hands at the hands of Gabbar Singh(Amjad Khan). Instead, Gabbar surprises everyone by embracing Thakur warmly—a stark contrast to the original narrative.
The video also features Basanti not dancing in front of the usual dacoits but instead performing for a group of dogs, in a playful take on the famous line by Dharmendra’s character, Veeru.
Even Sholay’s friendship song
“Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge,” gets updated.Amitabh Bachchan’s Jai is casually depicted holding a smartphone.
Perhaps the boldest twist is reserved for Jaya Bachchan’s character, Radha. In the original, she lights a lantern with a matchstick. The AI version, however, portrays her smoking a cigarette, a surprising and unconventional reinterpretation of her iconic moment.
A user shared the video on X with the caption, “Sholay but every frame is cursed.”
The clip has gone viral, gathering more than 700,000 views and eliciting a variety of funny responses from viewers. While many found this comedic take extremely entertaining, some expressed concerns about the potential misuse of AI technology.
One user commented, “Lmao I died when the kuttas appeared in front of Basanti dancing.” Another user said, “Kitne tejaswi log hai idhr.”
A third individual wrote, “Other countries: AI id dangerous, India: AI is in danger.”
A fourth person commented, “AI bohot barbaadi laane wala hai future mein.”
