It is learned that the Global sensation Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been roped in to play the female lead in Mahesh Babu starrer and SS Rajamouli directorial film, tentatively titled SSMB29.

The film is one of the much-anticipated projects from the Telugu film industry.

Infact, SS Rajamouli was looking for a female lead with global presence, and who better than Priyanka to play the lead role,” the report stated, quoting a source privy of the developments.

As per the report, the RRR director held several meetings with the global sensation over a period of six months and they are on the same page. The report further stated that PeeCee is excited to collaborate with a ‘maverick’ like Rajamouli and partner with Mahesh Babu ‘to create an adventure like never before.’

If the report is indeed true, the Rajamouli directorial will mark Priyanka Chopra’s return to Indian cinema after a hiatus of six years. She last starred in the 2019 Bollywood film The Sky Is Pink along with Farhan Akhtar. The news has excited the fans who have been enthusiastically sharing the news on social media

Rajamouli, who shot to national fame with Baahubali: The Beginning in 2015, won global appreciation with the Oscar-winning RRR. As the director is known for mounting his projects on an epic scale, expectations are running high for his film with Mahesh Babu.

The project has reportedly scaled new heights with Priyanka Chopra too coming on board.

However, the project could take time and is unlikely to see a release in the next year or even in 2026. Mahesh Babu, who was last seen in Trivikram Srinivas’ Guntur Kaaram, is also preparing for the role. Along with physical training, the actor is also working on the dialect.
