Yash Chopra once mentioned “Lamhe” featuring Sridevi shattered him

Indisputably, Sridevi in her era, was a legendary actress who stole the limelight from the lead heroes in movies. She has worked with many renowned filmmakers that includes the legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra with whom she collaborated in films Lamhe and Chandni. But, the late filmmaker was completely broken following the debacle of Lamhe at the
box-office.

In 1989, Yash Chopra and Sridevi collaborated for the first time for Chandni in which she was paired with Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna

Apart from them the movie also featured Waheeda Rahman, Anupam Kher, Sushma Seth, Mita Vashisht, and Manohar Singh in supporting roles. Not just the film but its soundtrack was also a massive success.
It won the Best Popular Film providing wholesome entertainment at the 37th National Film Awards. In addition to that it won several accolades and honors and reportedly marked the actress’ position as the top female star of the era.

Chandni is hailed as one of Yash Chopra’s best films, and following its success, he collaborated with Sridevi for Lamhe.

However, it proved a debacle at the box office.
