Amitabh and Rajesh were two biggest stars of Hindi cinema
Needless to highlight that in the 70’s Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna were Hindu Cinema’s two
biggest stars in the 1970s. While both actors accomplished incredible success, their careers took different paths. Rajesh Khanna, acknowledged as the first “Superstar” of Indian cinema, rose to fame with hits like “Aradhana” and “Do Raaste” and retained the record for 17 consecutive successes between 1969 and 1971.
Whereas Amitabh Bachchan’s career, however, gained momentum with films like “Deewar” and “Sholay”, eventually eclipsing Khanna’s stardom. Rajesh Khanna openly admitted feeling jealous of Amitabh Bachchan’s success, particularly after being replaced by him in “Deewar”.
Notwithstanding their rivalry, both actors left indelible mark on Indian cinema.
