Pritish Nandy-journalist poet and filmmaker passes away at 73
Pritish Nandy, journalist par-excellence
magazine editor and literary voice breathed his last on Wednesday 7January.
Established his production banner, Pritish Nandy Communications, in the 1990s. He was also the host of the DD show “The Pritish Nandy Show” and his production house produced several programmes for Doordarshan as well as mainstream fiction films. Some of their notable films include Sur – The Melody of Life, Kaante,Jhankaar Beats, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi Chameli, Shabd and Pyaar Ke Side Effects.
In the streaming era, the company brought popular shows like Four More Shots Please! and Modern Love: Mumbai, both streaming on Prime Video.
Nandy was the proud recipient of the Padma Shri in 1977 for his contributions to Indian literature. He was conferred the Karamveer Puraskar in 2008.
Nandy was a former Rajya Sabha member of the Shiv Sena and also an animal rights advocate. He is survived by his wife, Rina, and children Kushan, Ishita and Rangita.
