Sabarimala earns record revenue of Rs 440 cr amidst Makaravilakku season
Reportedly this year the recently concluded Sabarimala Mandala-Makaravilakku season grossed a total revenue of Rs 440 crore for the hill shrine.
As per VS Vasavan, Kerala Minister for Co-operation, Ports and Devaswoms, it’s an increase of Rs 80 crore from the earlier season⁹
The season also was a witness to surge
in devotees, with 6 lakh pilgrims visiting and daily footfalls reaching up to 1.8 lakh on peak days, he said on Tuesday.
The efficiency of managing the ‘pathinettaampadi’ (the sacred 18 steps) also improved, with 80-90 devotees ascending per minute this season compared to 65 in the previous season. The minister credited the smooth and complaint-free operations to rectifying past shortcomings and deploying experienced officials.
The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) also honoured outstanding performances by officers from various departments during the pilgrimage season.
