Meet Komal Mahuvakar worked with big stars quit acting at peak
Many actors from Kollywood experienced success in Bollywood. Some of the names include Sridevi, Rekha, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Rashmika Mandanna, Tamannaah Bhatia, and among others.
However, here’s one actress Komal Mahuvakar (Rupini). She was at the peak of her career, when she decided to bid adieu to the film industry and get married. She later returned to with a soap opera that aired on Sun TV. She was known as Rupini.
At the age of 6, Rupini was discovered by one of the most influential Bollywood filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee.
She was cast as a child artist opposite Amitabh Bachchan in 1975 release Mili. In the following years, she continued working as a child artist in films like Kotwal Saab and 0Khoobsurat. Transitioning into the role of a leading actress, she appeared in Hindi films such as Payal Ki Jhankaar, Ghungroo, Meri Adalat, and Awara Baap.
The actress then decided to venture into the world of South Indian cinema and changed her name to Rupini. She made her debut in South Indian movies with the film Cooliekkaran, which was directed by Rajasekhar and was released in 1987.
Komal rose her to new heights of fame and success. She later worked with some of the biggest names in South cinema like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal and Vijaykanth.
In 1995, when Rupini was at the peak of her career, she decided to exit from film industry and got married to Mohan Kumar. The couple has a daughter named Anisha. Couple of years later, she later started her own hospital in Chembur under the name Universal Heart Hospital.
In 2002, the actor returned to Tamil entertainment with Chithi 2, a soap opera which aired on Sun TV. Rupini continues to live in Mumbai and has not signed any film since then.
