Shivaji Maharaj:
Pan-India Historical film-will Director Sandeep Singh prove his worth?
Unquestionably Bollywood keeps pace with the time. While Big names big budgeted films are proving a debacle at the box-office; low budgeted films with no big stars are proving a hit.
Now Film Chhava is creating waves, thus making it another big
big historical film, The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Most importantly, will producer Sandeep Singh break his jinx of underwhelming films?
Not what you assume, this film wasn’t greenlit after Chhava’s success it was announced six months ago. Rishab Shetty as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Prasoon Joshi’s lyrics, Pritam’s music and it has all the right ingredients.
Rishab Shetty’s intense performances make him a good choice for the warrior but can the rest of the film match him?
This is where doubts creep in. Sandeep Singh’s producer track record is not encouraging. Films like Sarbjit, PM Narendra Modi, Bhoomi, Jhund, Atal have all proved a debacle at the box office.
He’s tried everything—political biopics to sports dramas but success has eluded him. But, could he eventually deliver a hit or will this be another underwhelming film?
A historical epic needs more than just big names, it needs vision, authenticity and strong direction. We’ve seen both extremes Tanhaji and Bajirao Mastani nailed it, Samrat Prithviraj and Panipat failed amidst good intentions.
Will The Pride of Bharat deliver a gripping experience or will it collapse under its own weight? Let’s wait and watch. Time will tell.
With 2027 release, there’s time to get things right. If done well, this could be a landmark historical film. But the shadow of past failures looms large. Will it truly be
The Pride of Bharat or just another forgettable attempt.
