SRK Ajay Tiger in trouble – BJP drags trio to court in Vimal Pan Masala Advt case
BJP in a new development initiated legal steps against Bollywood super stars Shah Rukh Khan Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff in Vimal Pan Masala ads despite the tobacco being banned. The case has been filed against the trio in Kota by the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
The case is linked to the trio’s appearance in the advertisement of Vimal Pan Masala, whose manufacturer is also included in the matter. The trio has been told to appear in court to address the allegations of misleading details regarding the ingredients of Vimal Pan Masala.
Social worker and BJP leader Indramohan Singh Honey is the one who filed the case under section 89 of the Consumer Protection Act. The legal documents claimed that the celebrities claimed in the advertisement that the product includes saffron, which might mislead young consumers.
The case mentioned that the presence of saffron in such products is questionable since saffron comes at a very high price and that the manufacturers have not provided any specific evidence to prove the claim made in the ad.
Furthermore, the case expressed concern about the warnings in the packets that cannot be read easily since they are in small fonts.
The appearances of celebrities on pan masala ads have led to a lot of controversies over the years since the products can have a bad impact on an individual’s health. The ongoing situation has hinted that the products might get permanently banned some time in the future.
Coming to the latest legal issue involving SRK, Ajay, and Tiger, such personalities must maintain a distance from promoting such products. They have a huge fanbase and a section of the general public considers these stars as their idols.
The result of the case cannot be speculated for now. But it will be better for these personalities to discontinue being a part of such advertisements from now onwards.
