Madhuri Dixit was the first choice for “Hum Saath Saath Hain”and she very much wanted to do the film, but, eventually the role was offered to Ajay Devgn’s close friend and actress Tabu.

Following the super-super-duper success of Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit’s film ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun released in 1994 had won the hearts of the people. The movie had created a stir at the box office. Especially the pairing of Salman and Madhuri had won the hearts of the audience. But both of them were going to be seen in another movie.

In the year 1999, the film ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ hit the theatres. The film proved to be a super hit.

But, there was no regret from Madhuri Dixit.

Amidst the completion of 25 years of this film, rumours surfaced about Madhuri Dixit rejecting a role in the 1999 film ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’. The actress had told in her interview that Sooraj Barjatya himself had decided to remove her from the film, she wanted to do this film, and she had said that she had not rejected the role of Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan’s sister-in-law in Hum Saath Saath Hain.

In an interview Madhuri Dixit opened up that, in Hum Saath Saath Hain, the makers felt that if she plays the role of Salman’s sister-in-law, it would be strange. Because if he touches her feet, people might not like it, further adding, it isn’t completely wrong that she rejected the film, because Sooraj had told her that it would be strange for him to cast her in that role because Salman-Madhuri pair was liked a lot in romantic film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. Madhuri Dixit could not get this film only because of Salman and this big film slipped out of her hands.
