Veteran actor Suniel Shetty heaped praises on KL Rahul for his crucial role in India’s victory against New Zealand by 4 wickets in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final, held at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. His fastest 34 runs unbeaten knock took the team to the finishing line.

This victory marked India’s third Champions Trophy win, making them the first team to achieve this feat. The Men in Blue had earlier won the T20 World Cup in 2024, adding to their impressive record of seven ICC titles.

KL Rahul’s performance was particularly significant given his recent struggles with form. His father-in-law, Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty, expressed his admiration for Rahul’s efforts on social media. Shetty posted on ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter, “INDIA’S WISH !!!! Rahul’s COMMAND ……” praising the wicketkeeper-batter’s contribution to India’s success in the tournament.

Throughout the Champions Trophy 2025, KL Rahul emerged as India’s fourth-highest run-scorer, following Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Shubman Gill. He accumulated 140 runs with an impressive batting average of 140.00. His consistent performance was instrumental in India’s journey to clinching the title.

After leading India to victory, KL Rahul admitted feeling nervous amidst the match but remained confident in his abilities. “Not sure he can say this on air but he was stunned himself HD recalled.. Regardless the pressure, he maintained composure and credited his team’s skill and resilience for their success.

The team’s ability to handle pressure and perform under challenging conditions has been honed over years of professional cricket experience. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has played a pivotal role in nurturing these talents.

KL Rahul reflected on the journey and challenges faced by Indian cricketers from a young age. “The way all had to play cricket growing up, we faced pressure from the time we became professional cricketers,” he noted. This experience has contributed significantly to their success on the global stage.
