Raj Kapoor used to host star-studded Holi parties at the famous RK Studios, where everyone from Bollywood would congregate to celebrate the festival of colours.

Even as Holi parties are no longer celebrated at the studio, the Kapoors often recall their memories and share what went on amidst the event.

Randhir Kapoor once appeared on Kapil Sharma’s show and recalled the Holi parties.
The actor told Kapil Sharma, “Bada traditional kisam ka atmosphere rehta tha. But jabse yeh rang aa gaya, zamane badal gaye, shakalein badal gayi logo ki koi pehchane nahi jaate the. Toh aise din aaye ki log chedne lage ek doosre ko jinko voh pehchante nahi the.

He continued, “Aur ladkiyon ne aana band kar diya kyuki unke baal kharab ho jaate the, nakhoon kharab ho jaate the. Phirse hume beauty parlour jaana padega. Toh yeh nayi peedhi ki ladkiyon ne aana band kar diya. Jab ladkiyon ne aana band kar diya toh Rishi aur mujhe bhi maza nahi aata tha.”

At the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Ranbir Kapoor recalled the legendary Holi parties held at RK Studios, where not only actors but every crew member and staff would show up to celebrate the festival.

In a conversation with filmmaker Rahul Rawail, Ranbir said, he was really young, so it was a very scary environment for me. Everyone was coloured in black and many other colours, everyone was being thrown into trucks.

You might have better memories, he guessed,” .Rahul replied, “You (Everyone used to be drained in different colours). It used to be a day celebration.
Ranbir continued, “What he has heard is that not just the actors and actresses, it was everybody in the film industry. Even the people working in camera, production, everybody used to come and celebrate together.” Rahul reflected on why these parties stopped and shared, “Gradually, why those parties stopped was because it became too much of a crowd. It was unmanageable because anyone used to just walk in.”
