As per reports, new changes comes into effect for passport.

Under the changed rules the requirement of some important documents has been made mandatory for making a new passport.

The Government of India has made many important changes in the passport rules, ranging from mandatory birth certificate to color-coded passports. If you are thinking of getting a new passport or renewing your passport, then keep these rules in mind. So let’s know about these new rules in detail.
Now this is the most important document for getting a passport

It has been made mandatory for a person born on or before 1 October 2023 to submit his birth certificate, as it can be the only document as proof of date of birth while applying for a passport. Now the birth certificate has to be attached while applying for a passport. Earlier, the date of birth could also be certified with other documents, but now only the birth certificate will be valid.

This rule has been implemented with the aim of making the proof of date of birth more reliable.

To further strengthen privacy, the written home address will be removed from the passport. Instead, the place of residence will be digitally added as a barcode on the passport, which can only be accessed by immigration officers. No outsider obtaining a passport will be able to get your address information. This change is an important step towards ensuring the security of personal information.
Identification will be easy, process will become systematic
Passports have been divided into different categories, which aim to make the identification of passport holders simpler and more systematic. Passport categories will be in three colors:
White Passport: For government officials.
Red Passport: For diplomats.
Blue Passport: For ordinary citizens.
This color-codes system will make it easier to identify different types of passport holders and help streamline immigration processes.
The guardian’s name will be removed

To further strengthen privacy, the name of the parents has been removed from the passport. Now the name of the guardian will not be printed on the last page of the passport. This change has been made to limit personal information and promote the right to privacy.

Services will be available faster
To speed up the passport service, the government has set a target to expand the passport service centres, under which 442 passport service centres will be increased to 600 in the next five years. This will speed up the process of getting a passport and make passport services easily available to more people. This step of the government will bring great relief to the citizens wishing to get a passport.
