Shanthi Priya reminiscences going ‘bald for Akshay Kumar starrer “Saugandh”
Southern actress Shanthi Priya recently over a media interaction went on to reveal that she went ‘bald’ and wore her late hubby’s blazer for the Akshay Kumar starrer “Saugandh” released in January 1991.
The actress wrote that as “women” we often set limitations in life, go by the rules and even keep ourselves caged”
In the film Saugandh,she challenged the beauty norms set by the society by sporting a bald head. The actress shared a series of images of herself in which she is seen embracing a bald look.
Attired in a beige-coloured suit, Shanthi Priya amped up her glamour quotient with matte makeup, smoky eyes, and a chunky gold earring.
In the pictures, Shanthi Priya also wore a blazer that belonged to her late husband Siddharth Ray, who left for the immortal world in 2004.
With this transformation on going bald she had set herself free, free from limitations and intending to break the beauty standards that the world has set upon them and does it with a lot of courage and faith in her heart!
Adding in her post that today, she also carries the memory of her late husband close, in his blazer that still holds his warmth.
Even as a section of the Internet loved her bold look, another section criticised her for defying norms.

Proir to taking the bold step, Shanthi had initial doubts that if it would impact her choice of work as society is conditioned to look at actresses in a certain way. Elaborating on her doubts, Shanthi Priya revealed to the press members that she asked herself is she
going to let fear dictate her choices?” However, she listened to her heart and went ahead with the decision of shaving her head.
