Meet Swaroop Sampat 90s TV actress, quit acting to pursue PhD; married actor
It’s well-known, the dazzling world of glamour and neons isn’t for all. Nobody understands the hardships till such time they experience it
However, there is one, a pageant holder and an actress par Excellence
who landed in Mumbai, the ‘Mecca’ of films “Bollywood”from Gujarat. She took up modelling and won the title of Femina Miss India Universe in 1979, representing India at the Miss Universe pageant the same year.
After being crowned Miss India Universe, she took up acting and in 1981 featured in Naram Garam, Sawaal, Himmatwala, etc. She is also acknowledged for her performance in television serials like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Shanti, Yeh Duniyan Gazab Ki to name a few.
But, When everything was going comfortably, she chose a different path in total disregard to her stardom. She bid adieu to Bollywood to focus on education and make an extraordinary contribution to society.
Swaroop married her long time boyfriend, actor Paresh Rawal. And she gave birth to two sons. As a trainer, travelled across India to conduct workshops for teachers to impart knowledge for the benefit of children.
Later, in 2016, returned to Bollywood with Ki and Ka. In the movie, she played mother to Kareena Kapoor Khan. In 2019, she was seen in Uri: The Surgical Strike, where she played Vicky Kaushal’s mother.
