Malayalam super star turned director Mohanlal’s Drishyam, a crime thriller that has emerged as one of the most iconic Malayalam film franchises, gained even more popularity with its remakes—particularly the Hindi version led by Ajay Devgn.
The sequel to the original Malayalam film was released directly on OTT platforms in 2021. Following that, the Hindi remake made waves at the box office in 2022, collecting an impressive global gross of around ₹350 crore.
Ajay Devgn recently confirmed that Drishyam 3 is in the pipeline, although new reports suggest there might be a few complications ahead.
Not long ago, both Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph officially announced Drishyam 3. Sources, the makers plan to cater to the Hindi-speaking audience as well, considering how successful the franchise has become in North India through its remakes.
Interestingly, unlike the preentries, the Hindi version of Drishyam 3 is expected to have a completely different storyline than its Malayalam counterpart.
Sources also suggest that the Malayalam version is expected to go on floors by the end of May, while the Hindi script is still under development.

As makers of the original Drishyam have snatched away a huge opportunity from Ajay Devgn to once again bolster the box office with Drishyam 3, things might get tough for the actor.
While this comes as a huge blow for Ajay Devgn, he would need something extraordinary to outwork Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 in terms of story and performance.
It would be a matter of interest to see how the Hindi makers craft a story ahead as the Hindi version of the film will have a different plot and story.
