Following the historic box-office success of Gadar 2, p preparing plans are afoot for Sunny Deol to revive another iconic patriotic saga,.Border 2 the
much-awaited sequel of Anurag Singh”s directorial has officially gone on floors with an ensemble cast that includes Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh. Promoted as “India’s Biggest War Film,” the movie releases on Republic Day 2026, and the scale of the project has only grown more massive.
According to reports, producers Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta have acquired the rights to the iconic song Sandese Aate Hai from
original Border for a reported Rs.10 crore the highest amount ever paid to license a Hindi film song.

Sandese Aate Hai is the soul of Border and Bhushan Kumar wanted to ensure the new version carried that same emotional weight. It’s not just a remake, it’s a tribute to the Indian Armed Forces.”
The revamped version, Sandese Aate Hai 2.0, will combine nostalgia with modern sound design. While the original track was sung by Sonu Nigam and Roop Kumar Rathod, this time Nigam will be joined by Arijit Singh.
An insider adds that the song will highlight the emotional and personal battles of soldiers and will be picturized on Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh.”
The film is set against the backdrop of the 1971 India–Pakistan War and continues JP Dutta’s legacy of depicting war with emotional depth and nationalistic fervor. The makers are currently deep into production and aim to wrap by August 2025. With a stellar cast, the revival of iconic music, and grand story narrative ambitions, Border 2
is shaping up to be not just a sequel but a full-scale cinematic event.
