Suniel Shetty recalls Anil Kapoor’s old jibe

Veteran Sunil Shetty recalled to Anil Kapoor’s old jibe calling him and Akshay Kumar “50% waale heroes” following Mohra’s poster release.

While Shetty admitted the comment stung, he acknowledged Kapoor’s stardom and saw Mohra as his breakthrough. It was a turning point in his career.

Recently, Suniel Shetty addressed a decades-old remark by Anil Kapoor, who allegedly called him and Akshay Kumar “50% waale heroes” after Mohra’s poster release.

Reflecting on the comment, Suniel admitted it hurt but remained respectful, crediting Mohra as a turning point in his career. The film’s massive success proved that resilience and belief can outshine early doubts.

It was in 1994, Mohra had just dropped its poster. While fans were all set for what would emerge as one of Bollywood’s most iconic action thrillers, a bitter remark from an unexpected source cast a shadow behind the scenes. In a recent conversation with the media, Suniel Shetty revisited a moment that was as humbling as it was hurtful—when veteran star Anil Kapoor allegedly dismissed him and Akshay Kumar as “50% waale heroes.”

The comment, made when both actors were still carving their place in the industry, struck a nerve. “Yes, there was this type of dialogue which he saw it in the newspaper too. However he was a star actor at that time around and he could say it. He meant that a single hero should have been taken instead of two actors.” Still new in the game, the sting of not being seen as a “full-fledged hero” left a mark.

Suniel took it on the Chin and the long road to Stardom, the actor notwithstanding the painful comment, showed remarkable grace in his response. ” He admitted it hurts. But we also knew we hadn’t become stars at his level. Still, we believed something would happen for us eventually.

And something did happen.Mohra released and turned out to be the film that transformed the trajectory of his career. The explosive pairing of Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, combined with a powerful supporting cast and unforgettable music, sealed the film’s place in Bollywood history. For Suniel, it wasn’t just another action movie—it was a declaration that he belonged.
