Sources reveal that after Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s remarks on Operation Sindoor were believed to have crossed a ‘Lakshman Rekha’ by his party leaders, the senior parliamentarian is likely to get a key role in India’s global outreach against terrorism in Pakistan.

In an effort to aptly vouce India’s stance on terrorism originating from Pakistan to the international community, Modi-led BJP government is launching a significant global outreach initiative.

Shashi Tharoor also the head of parliamentary panel on foreign affairs in India- is expected to lead a multi-party delegation across several nations.

Sources close to Shashi Tharoor disclosed that the central government approached him to lead the upcoming multi-party delegation. They want him to lead the delegation, particularly to the US, as he is the chairman of the External Affairs Standing Committee.

Shashi Tharoor, however, requested that the government first consult with the Congress party.

The initiative will see the deployment of multiple delegations, each comprised of five to six Members of Parliament, accompanied by a representative from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and another government official. MPs have been advised to ensure their passports and travel documents are readily available, with the MEA coordinating all travel logistics. The delegation is expected to depart India around May 22 and return in early June, between the third and fourth of the month.

Other Indian parliamentarians likely to be part of delegations include Samik Bhattacharya, Anurag Thakur, Manish Tewari, Amar Singh, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Sasmit Patra, Supriya Sule, Shrikant Shinde and D Purandeshwari.
