Mumbai wakes up to heavy rains on Monday morning
On Monday morning, Mumbai woke up to heavy rainfall as the southwest monsoon made an unusually early entry into Maharashtra.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued orange alerts for Mumbai and its suburban areas, predicting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds.
The heavy rain caused waterlogging in several parts of the city, disrupting traffic and train services. Some areas were also under red alerts, including Borivali, Santacruz, Powai, Mulund, Chembur, Worli, Colaba.
IMD alerts Mumbaikars to stir out only if it’s urgent or emergency.
Traffic movement is at a snail’s pace.
