Remarkably, Moushumi Chatterjee is a celebrated actress acknowledged for her expressive portrayals in both Hindi and Bengali cinema. She shot to fame in late 60s and 70s, emerging as one of the most beloved actresses of her era.
Moushumi’s most iconic Hindi films include Anuraag Roti Kapada Aur Makaan Piku and Angoor..She was known for her girl-next-door charm, emotional depth, and natural screen presence.
The childish attitude actress was married to Jayanta Mukherjee, the son of legendary singer and music director Hemanta Kumar Mukherjee. Jayanta was a music composer and film producer and their marriage marked the union of two prominent cultural families in Bengal. Sadly, Jayanta Mukherjee breathed his last in 2019 following a prolonged health issues.
Moushumi and Jayanta had two daughters. Their younger daughter, Payal Mukherjee, was in the news for tragic reasons. After a prolonged illness, she breather her last in December 2019. Her health had been a matter of legal concern and family disputes that were publicized amidst her last years.
