Reportedly, there is a surge in COVID-19 cases in India and new cases are reported from Mumbai. The infections are also reported from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. As on 27 May, total Covid-19 cases in India standards at 1010.
However, with mild and subtle symptoms, it is an advise from experts to people not to panic, but state advisories urge residents to maintain hygiene. The new variants NB.1.8.1 and LF.7 are under observation by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and no reason for concern has been flagged yet. As cases rises in Kerala and cross the 400 mark, residents are concerned, spikes were also observed in Delhi, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Arunachal Pradesh reported its first case earlier today and have begun contact tracing.
According to the latest state-wise data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Kerala and Maharashtra are witnessing the highest surge in COVID-19 cases.
Kerala has reported a total of 430 cases, including 335 new infections — the highest single-day tally among all states.
Maharashtra follows with 210 confirmed cases, 154 of which are new.
Delhi has also seen a notable rise, recording 99 new cases and pushing its total count to 104. Other states such as Gujarat, Karnataka, and Haryana have also registered an uptick in infections, reflecting a nationwide upward trend in COVID-19 cases.
Health authorities have intensified surveillance and are urging the public to follow preventive measures, especially in states showing higher transmission rates. Experts continue to emphasise vaccination, mask usage, and testing as key tools in containment.
