At least thousands of fans gathered outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to celebrate the victory of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 championship, on Wednesday June 4, 2025.
While six deaths have been confirmed at Bowring Hospital in Shivajinagar, authorities at Vydehi Hospital on Mallya Road said that of the 15 injured who had been admitted there, four people had died. One more person died at Manipal Hospital.
Expressing grief over the incident, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident. Adding that action will be taken if anyone is found wrong.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital and Vydehi Super Speciality Hospital here, he said such a tragedy shouldn’t have happened. Instructions have been given to provide free treatment for the injured, he said, adding that outpatients totalling 47 people.
