Asha Bhosle’s rendition of the classical ghazal “Dil Cheez Kya Hai” will never be forgotten. It brought timeless charm to the star-studded premiere of the re-release of Umrao Jaan.

Asha Bhosle was honoured with the National Film Awards for her songs in the movie.

The special screening, held on Thursday evening in Mumbai, celebrated the return of Muzaffar Ali’s 1981 cinematic gem to the big screen. With an air of nostalgia and reverence, the evening welcomed several Bollywood personalities and film connoisseurs who came together to honour this cultural classic.

However, the night’s highlight was Asha Bhosle’s live performance. The atmosphere in the venue transformed into something magical as she sang “Dil Cheez Kya Hai”; it was a visual and aural feast that instantly immersed the audience in Umrao Jaan’s world.

At the event, Asha Bhosle also introduced her granddaughter Zaina Bhosle to the media and even asked them, “mere poti kaise lagi?”

Sharing the moment online, fans and attendees hailed it as a “visual treat indeed”, with many describing the performance as one of those rare instances where history and emotion converge in the most elegant fashion.
