Maha govt announces ‘Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav’ as state festival
The Maharashtra government has declares “Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav” as State Festival. While declaring it the Legislative Assembly, Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar stated that the “Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav in Maharashtra was started by Lokmanya Tilak in 1893. The very essence of this festival is rooted in social unity, nationalism, the spirit of freedom, self-respect, and pride in our language. That noble tradition continues even today. Ganeshotsav is not just a celebration – it is a symbol of Maharashtra’s cultural pride and identity.
While saying that government will ‘bear expenses for grand celebrations’, the
Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar appealed to all Ganpati Mandals to incorporate ‘Operation Sindoor’ in their themes.
The cultural affairs minister also.claimed that the Devendra Fadnavis-led Mahayuti government has taken a clear and proactive stance on Ganeshotsav.
