Fans celebrate Amitabh Bachchan’s re-birth on August 2
Large number of fans gathered outside the Jalsa abode of Hindi Cinema’s Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan on August 2 being the day he was
re-born following the serious injury he sustained amidst shoot for the Manmohan Desai’s directorial
“Coolie” in Bangalore in 1982.
Infact, the senior Bachchan considers 2 August as his rebirth.
He meets his fans gathered out his bungalow gate.

Story, he wrote
“Aug 2, the day I lived again … my Coolie accident … brought to Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai and second surgery performed, where when I did not come out, was clinically dead for a few minutes … so many that know wish me a Happy Birthday for today …
Many thanks in advance ..for it was the prayers of millions of my countrymen that saved my life.”
It’s 31 years ago, on July 26 1982 Amitabh met with a serious accident amidst action sequences for the Manmohan Desai’s directorial “Coolie” in Bangalore. The actor suffered serious injuries due to a mistimed jump during a fight scene with co-star Puneet Issar that made him hit the corner of a table.
Director Manmohan Desai made immediate arrangements to fly his injured star to Mumbai. He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital and remained critical even after the operation.
On August 2, doctors injected adrenaline straight into his heart. Almost immediately, Jaya Bachchan saw one of his toes move and exclaimed “Look, he’s alive.” And so 2nd August became his second birthday.
