IMD forecasts below normal August showers September to witness rebound

IMD had forecasted above-average rainfall in Maharashtra in 2025. For Mumbai, the monsoon arrived 16 days earlier this year- on May 26 against the normal date of onset of June 11.

Heavy rains lashed Mumbai untill last week. However, it is a lull for a week and for the coming week also no heavy rainfall is expected. As per IMD district weather forecast for the next five days, starting from August 3, no weather alerts are issued for Mumbai and it’s metropolitan regions – Thane, Palghar and Raigad. The region is likely to witness light rains. 

The total capacity of seven lakes is 14.47 lakh million litres.
As of morning of August 3, the stock in seven lakes supplying water to Mumbai is 89.09%
The water levels of the seven lakes are:
Upper Vaitarna- 82.76%
Middle Vaitarna- 97.17%
Modak Sagar- 100%
Bhatsa- 85.75%
Tansa- 98.45%
Tulsi- 84.54%
Vihar- 72.52%
