All India Airports placed on high-alert due to potential terrorist threats

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has placed all Indian airports on high alert following intelligence inputs warning of potential threats from terrorists or “anti-social elements” between September 22 and October 2, 2025.

The advisory was issued on August 4, directing immediate enhanced surveillance measures across all aviation installations, including airports, airstrips, helipads, flying schools and training institutes.

The BCAS advisory is based on a specific input related to the activities of a Pakistani terror group, news agency PTI reported, citing sources.
Besides this, the BCAS has also advised close liaison to be maintained with local police, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and other relevant agencies.

The advisory emphasises that any intelligence inputs or alerts must be shared promptly with all concerned parties.
Among other measures, the security agency has advised that there should be strict ID checks for all staff, contractors and visitors, as well as ensuring that all CCTV systems are operational and monitored continuously.
The advisory has been issued to all stakeholders, including state police, airports, and airlines.

The advisory applies equally to domestic and international airline operators, mandating strict security checks for all cargo and mail before loading onto commercial flights. Enhanced screening is compulsory for parcels at every airport, regardless of destination.
