Vidya Balan shares on her debut film shoot for Parineeta
Pradeep Sarkar’s directorial Parineeta, featuring Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan, and Sanjay Dutt gears up for theatrical re-release in on August 29, 2025.
Notably, it clocks 20 years of its release. It was Vidya Balan’s career film.
In a recent media interaction the actress recalled on how she was in awe of Rekha, who shot the song
“Kaisi Paheli Zindagani” in the film.
Vidya also opened up at the time around she met Rekha who had a special song in Parineeta.
Recalling the prized times, she revealed how she wasn’t even shooting the day Rekha was filming the song. But the director, Pradeep Sarkar, told her to come and being starstruck, she said, that at the time she walked into Rekha’s van, she wasn’t shooting for that song. Her father’s favourite film is also Khoon Bhari Maang, coincidentally. And she (Vidya) was like, Oh my god, Rekha!”
She went on to add, she remembers seeing Rekha’s picture in The Times of India for the first time. She was mesmerised and was like, who’s this ethereal creature? she hadn’t seen any films before that.
Further adding she asserted that she knocked on her door tentatively. Raima and she (Rekha) walked in and she met her like they know each other forever. Rekha was so lovely and continues to be so lovely.
Coming to Parineeta
Vidya Balan plays the role of Lolita, who lives with her financially unstable Uncle. Since childhood, she has had feelings for her next-door neighbour, Shekhar, played by Saif Ali Khan.
Shekhar’s father, Navinchandra (Sabyasachi Chakraborty), is a wealthy but heartless businessman. Lolita soon discovers that Navinchnadra wants to seize her uncle’s home and convert it into a hotel. She decides to seek help from the wealthy businessman Girish Sharma (Sanjay Dutt). However, misunderstandings arise when Shekhar suspects romance brewing between Lolita and Girish.
