PM Modi flags-off namma Metro in Bengaluru
PM Modi flagged-off the much-delayed Yellow Line of Bengaluru’s Namma Metro, connecting
R.V. Road Metro Station to Bommasandra on August 10, 2025. He flagged off the train Ragigudda Metro Station, tried the QR code-enabled ticket vending machines and also boarded the inaugural service to Electronic City.
According to an official of the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) the train carrying the PM was operated by a woman loco pilot. While the Yellow Line is built for driverless operation, it will initially run with loco pilots. School Children were also on board, and PM Modi interacted with them.
After anticipating for nearly years and multiple delays, the 19.15-km Yellow Line eventually got flagged off. The corridor links the city’s IT hub, particularly benefiting thousands of employees working in Electronic City and is expected to ease congestion at the notorious Silk Board junction. PM also flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains including the KSR Bengaluru–Belagavi service, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Amritsar service, and the Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune service.
PM Modi said that the Centre and State must works towards Viksit Bharat and pinning hopes that
Karnataka’s talent will lead the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Whether its the central government or state government, both are in the service of the people. We have to work together and adopt measures for the betterment of our citizens.
Reforms are important towards this end. State governments can consider reforms such as the Jan Vishwas Bill 2.0, Mission Karmayogi, Aspirational District Programme which have been implemented by the Centre.
Together, the Centre and the State will realise its resolve towards a Viksit Bharat.
After riding the newly inaugurated Namma Metro Yellow Line from Ragigudda Metro Station to Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara Metro Station, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proceeded to the IIIT Auditorium in Electronics City Phase 1.
He laid the foundation stone for Namma Metro’s Phase 3 and addressed the gathering. He then travelled by helicopter to HAL Airport and departed for Delhi.
