Mumbai continues to be battered by heavy rains accompanied by stormy winds flooding roads and by-lanes for the 4th consecutive day making commuting a nightmare for the office goers and students of educational institutions.
Latest update reveals that train services amid CSMT and Thane stations, as well as on the Harbour Line, between Kurla and CSMT, were suspended until further notice.
Mithi river’s water nears close to danger mark. The water has reached upto 3.10 mts, while the danger mark is at 4 mts.

A red alert was issued for Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad for Tuesday with the IMD forecasting extremely heavy rainfall in these areas.

In view of the weather conditions, the Maharashtra Chief Minister advised citizens to take precautions as more showers are were expected along with high tides.
“In the last 2 days, Maharashtra has received widespread rainfall. Even for the next three days, until 21st August, half of the districts in Maharashtra have either Red Alert or Orange Alert. Fadnavis went on to discuss the precautions that need to be taken due to this with the civic body and the Mumbai Police for the safety of the people.

As per the Maharashtra CM at 1.35 pm, today, Tuesday, after reviewing the flood situation with the disaster management department, the next 48 hours is crucial for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts, which remain on high alert.

According to CM’s Office, incessant rains continued to batter Maharashtra for the third day in a row on Tuesday, nearly 350 persons from Mumbai’s Kurla area were shifted to safer locations.

In view of the ongoing heavy rains in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation area, the level of the Mithi river had risen to 3.9 meters. Considering this, as a preventive measure, about 350 citizens from the low-lying areas of Kranti Nagar, Kurla have been shifted to the Magandas Mathuram Municipal School of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, a temporary shelter.

The Central Railway on Tuesday suspended its local train services on the harbour line between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kurla stations due to submergence of tracks in a section after heavy rains.
