Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan reunite after 46 years as ageing gangsters
Notedly, legendary actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are likely to board Lokesh Kanagaraj’s next directorial – a gangster drama as ageing gangsters. Undoubtedly, the two actors are pillars of Tamil cinema.
While the Lokesh Kanagaraj’s directorial and Rajinikanth starrer ‘Coolie’s is met with mixed reviews, Kamal Haasan’s latest film, ‘Thug Life’, proved a debacle at the box office globally. Now the recent reports have gotten fans excited.
This gangster project was reportedly to go on sets before the Covid-19 pandemic, but was put on hold due to unforeseen circumstances. Now that the talks have resumed, the untitled project is expected to mount the sets soon.
This mega-budget film is expected to be produced by Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI). However, an official announcement is likely to be made soon.
If this project goes on floors, then director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Kaithi 2’, featuring Karthi, will have to wait. Also, it was confirmed that Lokesh and Aamir Khan were in talks to do a film. Reports suggest that the Rajinikanth-Kamal Haasan film will be his upcoming project and the other films will have to wait.
Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have shared screen space in several films in the past before going their separate ways. Their last on-screen appearance was ‘Alauddinum Albhuta Vilakkum’ in 1979.
Regardless being contemporaries,
Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have remained friends over the years. Some of the memorable collaborations include ‘Apoorva Raagangal’, ‘Moondru Mudichu, ‘Avargal’, ‘Pathinaaru Vayathinile’ and ‘Ninaithaale Inikkum’ among others.
