Director Vivek Agnihotri invited fans to give a tour of his house, where he kept posters of his films, his paintings, and furniture designed by him and his wife Pallavi Joshi.
Director Vivek Agnihotri has been into promotions of his upcoming movie,
The Bengal Files, set for September 5 release.
In a fresh interaction with the media, the filmmaker invited a camera crew inside his house, and showcased pieces of furniture that he picked up or designed along with his wife, Pallavi Joshi. He proudly displayed a sketch of the 1983 cricket World Cup-winning team, which was gifted to him by cricketer Balwinder Sandhu.
As per Vivek, It had the signatures of all the team members and he has kept it right at the entry of the house because it’s one of his most prized possessions. He explained the story behind the home itself and said, “This is now technically his second home, because they bought another house. He and wife Pallavi moved here in 2000 and lived here till 2024. His kids were also born in this home, and he is still very much attached to this place. Even though they hardly reside there he has kept the place as it is, and still has all his meetings in this house.
Vivek then showed the audience an oil painting hanging on the wall saying that said, it’s his own painting. When he used to live in Delhi, used to paint a lot, and even sold most of his paintings,to friends but this remained here because his wife and kids like it a lot. He made it right here in this house, while his kids would be playing with the paints and getting it all over the walls.” He then told the story of a table placed in front of the painting, and saying that he holds all his meetings there.” After showing off some more artefacts and film posters, he took viewers inside a room which used to be his study. There was a framed Indian flag kept there.
Vivek shows the painting he made.
He picked up the framed Tiranga and said, you will find the Indian flag everywhere, but this is very special. But this is made from the same khadi cloth that was used for the first independent Indian flag back in 1947. He designed these himself and whenever young children come to their house, gifts them one of these.” He then opened the doors to his pantry, and explained that he eats a very different kind of diet, completely plant-based and doesn’t need a lot of preparation. He moved to his main meeting room, where actor Sourav Das, who is a part of The Bengal Files, was already sitting. Sourav got up and touched Vivek’s feet, and the director said, “Aap log miliye inse. Yeh Bengal ka superstar hai (Meet this gentleman. He is the superstar of Bengal.) Even though he is married, whichever girl meets him in Bengal asks about him being in his (Vivek’s) movie.”
The director also revealed his ‘den’, where he keeps books by other authors and himself on display. Along with that, he showed some old images of him and his wife from their school and college days.
Sourav Das had previously appeared to distance himself from Vivek.According to TV9 Bangla, he said, Vivek knew about his character only but wasn’t not aware of the script. That’s how work is done nowadays. It’s a very strong character that he was offered. And it’s a Hindi film where actors from all over the country have worked. He is nobody compared to the stars who have worked in the film he went on to add.
Actor Saswata Chatterjee has also made similar statements, and Vivek’s wife, Pallavi Joshi, called them both liars for saying that they weren’t aware of the full story.
