Shobhaa De voices concern over Maratha agitation ‘Mayhem”

Renowned journalist and author Shobhaa reminded the state govt to “not blink” over this political noise and dadagiri” being perpetrated by what appeared to be “hired goons”.

Shobhaa continued that the mayhem in Mumbai was just distressing. She never stepped out today spoke to people. For Some of her staff it took them five hours to get from their home to her home. Bus routes have been diverted, schools remained shut(Monday) tomorrow and just as well, because a lot of kids in South Mumbai were terrorised by the Maratha groups surrounding their bus. Eventually, security forces and school volunteers were deployed to secure the children to safety.

She went on to add that the Maratha groups appeared not to have any political motive or specific agenda, and instead were on a Mumbai sightseeing trip. She also alleged that some of the agitators were under the influence of alcohol.

The senior journalist and author recalled how the mobs were scaring women by thumping on their cars, asking them to get out of their vehicles. They were dancing in the streets, playing loud music. It was disruptive and offensive to most Mumbaikars.
