Farah Khan mirthfully teases Deepika’s 8-hour shift demand
Off late Deepika Padukone has been headlining following reports on her exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Spirit’, reportedly over her request for an 8-hour workday.
Recently, she also made her exit from ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, a decision that surprised both fans and industry experts. Amid ongoing rumors over these moves, filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan playfully shared her take on Deepika’s
“8-hour shift” demand in her newest vlog.
In the midst of her recent cooking vlog with Dilip at actor Rohit Saraf’s house, Farah shared a special moment when Rohit disclosed that his mother made her
on-screen debut exclusively for this vlog. He also went on to mention that they had waited an entire year for this to happen. Responding In an affectionate response, Farah hugged Rohit’s mother and joked, “Haan itna time toh Deepika Padukone ne nahi lagaya mujhe haan bolne mein.
Further, Farah’s cook Dilip asked when Deepika would appear on their show, saying, when will Deepika ma’am come to our show)?” Farah humorously replied, “the day you go to your village.” She also teased Deepika by adding, “Deepika Padukone now shoots only for 8 hours, and doesn’t have time to come to their show.
In September 2024, Deepika embraced motherhood with the birth of her daughter, Dua. By May 2025, there were reports that she had made her exit from “Spirit” the Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directorial.
Soon after, reports surfaced over her “unprofessional” requests, which included a share in the film’s profits, limiting her shoot to eight hours a day, and seeking extra payment for any additional shooting days.
Earlier this month, Vyjayanthi Movies, the producers of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, took to social media to announce that Deepika would not be returning for the sequel. Their official statement said, “regardless the long journey of making the first film, they weren’t able to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. Nevertheless, they wish her the best with her future works. Soon after, reports emerged alleging that Deepika had requested a 25 percent increase in her fee, insisted on 7-hour shooting days, and demanded five-star accommodation.
Rather than addressing the rumors, Deepika shifted focus by announcing her upcoming projects. She is set to work with director Atlee on a high-octane action film featuring Allu Arjun, tentatively titled ‘AA22 x A6’, where she will play a dynamic action role.
Additionally, she has confirmed her role in Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘King’, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film, which is currently being shot, also features Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Jaideep Ahlawat.
