Makers of Mahakali unveil first look on Durga Puja.
RKD Studios and director Prasanth Varma unveiled actor Akshay Khanna’s first look from the upcoming film ‘Mahakali’. Akshaye will be seen in a unique appearance as Asuraguru (the mentor and priest of demons, devils and monsters) Shukracharya.
The poster with Khanna’s bearded look was unveiled on the occasion of Durga Puja, symbolising the mystic appeal of the film. With flowing silver beard, ascetic robes, and luminous eyes that pierce through the darkness, the actor embodies a complex individual whose wisdom shaped the destiny of gods and demons alike.
RKD Studios, while sharing the ‘Mahakali’ poster captioned,
“In the shadows of gods, rose the brightest flame of rebellion…Presenting The Enigmatic Akshaye Khanna as the eternal ‘Asuraguru SHUKRACHARYA’ from #Mahakali…” The visual depicts Shukracharya standing before a colossal mountain fortress enclosed by towering cliffs. Under a storm-laden sky, with flames rising from ancient altars, the figure radiates both meditative serenity and unyielding power.
Akshaye’s character in the movie is known as the master of Sanatana Vidya (eternal knowledge) and keeper of the secretive Mrita-Sanjivani Mantra (secret spell for reviving the dead), the power to restore life—this portrayal channels his duality: the spiritual guide and the indomitable strategist who could alter the cosmic balance.
The 50-year-old Akshaye Khanna was last seen in director Laxman Utekar’s period-action-drama ‘Chaava’, in which he portrayed Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The movie featured actor Vicky Kaushal as the protagonist, playing Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Sambhaji.
With director Puja Kolluru helming the project, ‘Mahakali’ marks not only the next big chapter of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) but also Khanna’s grand debut in Telugu cinema.
The PVCU has many much-anticipated releases after the success of actor Teja Sajja’s ‘Hanu-Man’. ‘Jai Hanuman’ and ‘Adhira’ are the prominent films that have already been announced.
RK Duggal and Riwaz Ramesh Duggal backed RKD Studios is setting the stage for the upcoming mystic-drama ‘Mahakali’.
