Deepika Padukone is India’s First Mental Health Ambassador
On World Mental Health Day on Friday 10 October, Globally acclaimed actress Deepika Padukone announced of her being appointed as India’s first Mental Health Ambassador by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. Taking to her Instagram account she shared the news on her Instagram calling the honour “deeply special.”
She also shared a picture with Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Punya Salila Srivastava, writing,
“On World Mental Health Day, she feels deeply honoured to be appointed as the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare’s first-ever Mental Health Ambassador.”
In her caption she further wrote
“Led by our Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our nation has taken meaningful steps to place mental health at the heart of public health. Through her own journey and work they have done at she has seen how much is possible when we come together to build a mentally healthy India.
The actress also expressed eagerness to collaborate with ministry
and her excitement to work closely with the ministry, and looks forward to working under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi.
