Yashita Singh gives fans raw real peek into chasing dream in Bollywood
Actress and dancer Yashita Singh recently gave fans a raw, real glimpse of one chasing a dream in Bollywood.
She shared a video on social media capturing a day at a Yash Raj Films audition, showing over 600 women waiting for their chance.
Standing in a crowd of 600 plus dreamers, all with the same hope in their eyes from 9 am till 9pm outside the gate of Yash Raj Studios for their turn for the audition. This is the reality of being an outsider in Bollywood. Yashita Singh wrote that she arrived at 4 PM, and her turn didn’t come until 9:30 PM. That’s five and a half hours of wait—and that’s just one audition.
The reality of the outsider struggle- her
video quickly resonated with many aspiring actors.
Reportedly, Mumbai sees an estimated 5,00,000 newcomers each year trying to break into the entertainment industry, and Yashita Singh’s post put a human face on those numbers.
It’s a long, arduous process—standing for hours, rehearsing lines hoping someone notices your spark amid hundreds of hopefuls.
Although Yashita Singh has already established herself as a dancer and actor and appeared in a music video, her post brings to light a common reality about Bollywood: skill isn’t always sufficient. Resilience, timing, and luck also play a role.
Breaking into Bollywood takes more than just talent, as demonstrated by Yashita Singh’s experience; it also takes tenacity, patience, and the capacity to remain upbeat when hours of waiting turn into days.
