AI Crew shower highest praise for Gulshan Devaiah at 35k feet for Kantara
Actor Gulshan Devaiah won highest commendation from Air India’s crew for his performance in ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’. The appreciation was delivered while cruising at 35,000 feet, with Devaiah calling it the highest praise ever. The acknowledgement came in the form of a written message from the crew, thanking him for choosing to fly with Air India and expressing their admiration for his role in the film.
Devaiah was elated by the airline crew’s appreciation and expressed gratitude for the gesture.
Air India presented a note to Devaiah on board, stating,
“Dear Mr Devaiah, we are delighted to have you on board today. The entire crew would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for your performance in Kantara. Thank you for choosing to fly with us (sic).”
Devaiah responded to the gesture with gratitude and humour. He wrote, “I guess this is the highest appreciation one can receive.. no literally they gave this to me while flying at 35000 ft .. so (sic).”
He further recollected the times he received such personalised notes from different airline staffs. “He has about 5 of these from AI, about 3 from Indigo & from the rest (some now defunct). He has received cookies, roasted nuts & chocolates, over a career spanning 15+ years. He likes this high appreciation he has been receiving. Thank you (sic),” he wrote.
Devaiah’s remarks highlight a pattern of appreciation from airline crews, acknowledging his body of work over more than 15 years.
‘Kantara: Chapter 1’, the film for which Devaiah was recognised, has received attention for its performances. Devaiah played the role of Prince Kulashekara in the period drama that addressed man vs nature conflict, oppression, divinity and slavery, among others.
Written, directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ also features Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, Pramod Shetty and Naveen D Padil among others.
Theatrically released in on October 2, the film raked in over Rs 800 crore worldwide.
