Renowned writer-socialist Shobhaa De opens up on Shilpa Shetty owned Bastian
Veteran actress Shilpa Shetty owns a luxirious resturant “Bastian” and continues to headline this time not for any legal drama. The actress reportedly earns Rs 2 and Rs 3 crore per night.
Shobhaa De, eminent writer and socialite, has recently teased the astounding figures and described what it’s like to enter one of the most upscale restaurants in the city.
In a recent interview Shobhaa De discussed the astounding amount of money made at Bastian.
Shobhaa shared, “The kind of money in Mumbai is astonishing. One single restaurant in Mumbai has a turnover of Rs 2-3 crore a night. On a slow night, the turnover is Rs 2 crore and on weekends it is Rs 3 crore. She walked into that restaurant to see it herself because when she heard these numbers… she said this can’t be true.”
However, when she was asked about the restaurant, Shobhaa shared the details and added, “according to Shobhaa, It’s the new Bastian. It’s on the top. It is 21,000 ft square feet, it’s not even reality. You walk in there and you feel ‘where am I?’ You have a 360° view of the city.”
With two seatings of 700 diners each, Bastian can host up to 1,400 guests in a single evening.
Continuing Shobhaa said that they have a waiting list of people waiting downstairs on the road in Dadar, which is like the heartland of old Maharashtrian conservative area in Mumbai. There are people arriving in Lamborghini and Aston Martin. You name it. Who are these people? She has no idea.
Shobhaa also described her own experience at the restaurant. She said, she was in a state of shock and she didn’t know a single face in all 700 diners. There were young, and they were ordering bottles and bottles of the best in line tequila for the table. Each table was spending in the lakhs but they were complete strangers.”
It was in 2019, restaurateur Ranjit Bindra, the creator of the Bastian brand, collaborated with Shilpa Shetty. Since then, she has enhanced her footprint in the hospitality industry by co-owning several eateries in India and owning half of the Bastian brand. Shilpa earlier admitted that she is one of the biggest restaurant owners in the nation.
Notedly, a fraud case is pending against Shilpa Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, who are alleged to have defrauded a Juhu businessman out of
Rs 60.48 crore.
