Emotive moment at airport reminds Shekar Kapoor of “Masoom”
A very emotive moment pleasantly bewildered acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur at the Mumbai Airport when he was passing through the international security counter. He heard a security officer softly humming a tune from his classic film “Masoom” which beautifully reflected its lasting spirit.
With a smile the filmmaker said to the officer “You’re humming a tune from his film. The officer immediately replied, he knew it’s from Masoom. Beautiful film and such classic film like ‘Masoom” aren’t made today.
Turning Curious, Shekhar asked what he meant. The officer’s response struck a chord, “They don’t make films from the heart anymore. The stories don’t mean anything now. The songs are meaningless.” Soon after, another passenger nearby began humming another track from the film, adding, “this one’s his favourite.”
