PM Modi serves food to wheelchair-bound Pratika Rawal at champions’ meet in Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen serving food to Pratika Rawal, who was on a wheelchair during the felicitation ceremony for Women’s World Cup winners in New Delhi on Wednesday.

 

 

PM Modi won hearts with a thoughtful gesture amidst felicitation ceremony for the Indian women’s cricket team following their World Cup triumph. Even while hosting the event at his New Delhi residence on Wednesday, PM Modi noticed injured player Pratika Rawal, seated in a wheelchair, without food. Showing solicitous concern, he walked to the serving area, picked up food, and personally handed it to her. A video of the moment quickly went viral, showcasing the Prime Minister’s warm engagement with the athletes.

Rawal expressed her gratitude and appeared excited by the gesture, smiling as she thanked the Prime Minister. As PM Modi continued to interact warmly with the team, the moment drew praise from attendees and fans alike, reflecting the supportive and celebratory atmosphere of the ceremony.

The felicitation at the Prime Minister’s residence brought together the World Cup-winning squad, head coach Amol Muzumdar, and BCCI president Mithun Manhas. The gathering celebrated India’s landmark victory in the Women’s World Cup final. The meeting was notable not only for formal recognition but also for the camaraderie and personal stories exchanged between the team and the Prime Minister.

The Harmanpreet-led women’s team gifted PM Modi a signed jersey with ‘Namo’ printed on the back of it and she reflected on the team’s journey, recalling an earlier meeting with PM Modi following their close defeat in the 2017 final.
She said, she still reminisces when they met the PM in 2017.
At that time around, they did not come with a trophy. But it is a matter of great honour for the team that this time, for something they have been working so hard for so many years, they have brought the trophy here,”
in a video shared by the Prime Minister. the captain added, “their aim was that to.meet him again and again in the future and take photos with him and her team again and again.”
In turn, PM heaped praises ovet the team’s resilience and the unifying power of cricket in India. Adding they have done a great job. In India, cricket is not just a game. In a way, it has emerged as the life of the people of India. If there is good happening in cricket, India feels good and even if there is a little bit of wrong happening in cricket, the whole of India feels bad.”
The event also included lighter moments, as the Prime Minister engaged in candid conversations with the players. He asked Player of the Tournament Deepti Sharma about her Hanuman tattoo that had become popular on social media.

Further Harleen brought a sense of humor to the occasion when she asked
PM Modi about his skincare routine, to which he replied with a smile, “he doesn’t think about all that.

On Thursday, the women’s team also met President Droupadi Murmu at her residence in New Delhi and gifted her with a signed jersey.
