It’s good news for India’s World Cup winning star player Smriti Mandhana.She has been retained by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the WPL 2026 for ₹ 3.50 crore

Under the WPL retention rules, each team can hold on to a maximum of three capped Indian players, two foreign players, and two uncapped Indian players. If a team chooses to keep five players, one of them must be an uncapped Indian. For the first time, teams will also have the right-to-match (RTM) option during the auction, allowing them to bring back a player from their 2025 lineup.
Each team has a budget of Rs 15 crore for the auction likely to take place in Delhi on November 27. The WPL also announced the retention prices: ₹ 3.5 crore for the first player, Rs 2.5 crore for the second, ₹1.75 crore for the third, ₹1 crore for the fourth, and ₹50 lakh for the fifth. If a team keeps five players
₹9.25 crore will be taken out of its ₹15 crore purse; for four players, ₹8.75 crore; for three, ₹7.75 crore; for two, ₹6 crore; and for one player, ₹ 3.5 crore.

So, DC and MI will each have ₹5.75 crore remaining to build their teams, which should have between 16 and 18 players. They will not be allowed to use the right-to-match (RTM) option.
