Meet Beena Banerjee daughter of legendary actor Pradeep Kumar

Beena Banerjee matured in the aura of Indian cinema, watching her father Pradeep Kumar rule the silver screen through the 1950s and 60s with classics like Anarkali, Nagin, Taj Mahal and Aarti. Acknowledged for his royal screen presence and soulful romantic performances, Pradeep Kumar was one of the most respected and admired actors of his era.
Beena in an attempt to carry forward his legacy with dignity,set foot to the industry films in early 1970s and went on to act in nearly 200 movies. She emerged as a popular name in both Hindi and Bengali cinema, especially acknowledged for her powerful emotional and motherly roles in films like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Anjaam, and Chandni. She later turned out to be an household name in television, winning hearts with her role in the hit series Uttaran.
Beena married to
actor-director Ajay Biswas, has a son Siddharth Banerjee who worked in the industry as an assistant director.
At an event at the Kolkata International Film Festival this month honored her father’s centenary—a proud reminder that the Banerjee-Batabyal family continues to shine in Indian cinema.
