Seema opens up on directing remake of “Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey Ram” of Aamir Khan
Actress-turned director Seema Pahwa is acknowledged for family-centric stories. Having delved into a fractured household in the latest web series ‘Perfect Family,’ she now immerses herself in Sooraj Barjatya’s signature universe of expansive, affectionate clans acknowledged for their heartfelt values. She’s thrilled to contribute to ‘Prem Ki Shaadi,’ featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari, as filming unfolds.
In an interview, she went on to reveal that the remake film is shaping up beautifully. Nevertheless, Sooraj Barjatya’s films continue to be connected to their values and families. She is hopeful that this one will turn out as lovely as his past works. Throughout her four decades career Pahwa has seamlessly navigated amid different mediums and roles, never prioritizing one over another.
Seema balances films and theatre.While currently involved in shooting for a major film, she is also preparing to act in and direct the play ‘Kuch Panne,’ scheduled to premiere on December 9 amidst the ongoing Rangshila Theatre Festival in Mumbai. She elaborates that it’s always exciting to be a part of a theater festival because it creates an audience that is in the mood for the play. Usually, when someone goes to see a play, by the time someone gets into the mood, the story is over. But in a theater festival, the audience is in the mood to enjoy the performances.
There were reports that producer Aamir Khan had chosen Seema to direct the Hindi remake of the 2022 Malayalam black comedy ‘Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey.’ On being asked about the film, she states, they had a conversation with Aamir Khan and he had wanted her to direct, but things didn’t work out and she isn’t doing that film. It is said that Aamir has dropped the project, as he was unable to assemble the right cast.
Seema Pahwa, who made her debut as a director with the critically acclaimed ‘Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi,’ is all set for her next venture behind the camera. She mentions, that she is taking her second film on floors soon. The prep is on. She likes family-oriented stories. So, can’t make anything far removed from that space. The new story is also about relationships.
