Jaya Bachchan opens up on her traumatized phase in her life

Veteran actress and Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan recalled one of the most traumatized phases of her life – the time around when daughter Shweta united into wedlock.
The actress-politician
reflected on her distress amidst his time, stating she had been “disturbed like never before,” and showcased how the transition impacted her in a way she never anticipated it.

In the midst of addressing the audience, the
actress-politician asserted that she struggled to adjust to the new reality at home.

Over her chat at the
“We The Women Asia” session in Mumbai, she said, “following Shweta’s marriage, she experienced loneliness. She has never been so disturbed in her life like when she got married. She wasn’t aware what happened. She merely couldn’t control her tears.stop crying. And she was the hardest mother to this child. But there was something that just left her (Jaya) and she said, ‘Look, she can’t do this’.”

In the midst of the session, when asked whether what she felt could be attributed to empty nest syndrome, she replied, “she doesn’t know. But maybe because she come from a family of girls. At the time of Shweta’s birth, her father was celebrating and was so happy. When Abhishek was born, he said haan theek hai.”

The conversation further turned to her son Abhishek and the reactions within the family. The journalist remarked, “Poor Abhishek, poor boy,” referencing the different receptions that Shweta and Abhishek received from their grandfather. Bachchan acknowledged this, echoing, “Poor boy. Well, he’s making up for it now, getting all the love.”
Shweta tied the knot to Nikhil Nanda on February 16, 1997. The couple has two children, Navya Naveli and Agastya.
