It’s 1979, a party in Bombay, and the frame reveals everything sans attempting too hard. Raj Kapoor, in relaxed mood, indulgent. He is enjoying his role as cinema’s favourite elder, with Rekha standing there in full late-70s glamour, enigmatic as ever, and Neetu Singh still very much the industry’s sweetheart, months away from emerging as a Kapoor bahu. No one is posing for history here, it’s just another filmi evening where hierarchies blur, gossip hums, and futures quietly rearrange themselves over drinks.
Rekha belongs to the room, Neetu is already halfway into the family, and Raj Kapoor looks perfectly comfortable watching it all unfold, as if he already knows how this story ends.
